Laughing (&) Buddha :)

Monday, December 16, 2013

This little idol of Budai or laughing Buddha, as he is famously called, is a special gift from my amma (mom). While leaving for post graduation, mom brought this to me as a token of happiness. . I kept him in my closet amid the pile of my belongings and when every time noticed  this generous man, he appeared like playfully reminding my carelessness and brought laughter :)
Later as I ventured to have some information on him,  I realized that this poor content man carried his possession in his cloth sack (Budai), gave candy to poor children and was shown smiling always. He represents good virtues of generosity, kindness, wisdom and laughter. Little do I know about him but still I carry a lot of admiration from this little knowing. He makes me comprehend that : Happiness is not a state acquired through materials, it is a spiritual state of our shining soul.
I admit, all these days this idol of Laughing Buddha alone didn’t make me grin but thought of my mother’s lovable intention to gift this precious idol always does :)
This picture clicked by me is a glimpse of smiling Buddha shining through  :)

Train Of THOUGHT :)

Tuesday, November 5, 2013

I am brought up hearing the tales wherein truth wins the drama, no matter how badly it has been suppressed or sabotaged by the evils of this world. I believe, the stories we hear become part of our belief system and our belief system becomes our life. We start living the story we believe in! Let us tell our children stories in which virtues, ethics and morals are the leading, victorious characters. Let us assert : Suffering in the path of truth and justice is not the actual suffering but savoring in the lane of  falsity and injustice is  actually is!

TRAIN of THOUGHT - I

Monday, July 29, 2013

As they say, ‘In life some people come as blessings while other come as lessons’, we all have our share of blessings and lessons. Blessings are always blissful! But lessons are difficult! No matter how bruised we are, how hard we try to seclude ourselves after learning good number of  lessons from bad people (who turned bad to us!), get shattered, we are after all ‘social’ beings and our tendency to get hooked to people reverts at one point or the other. We get desperate wondering why people are so unpredictable, why they always live behind the façade of something they are actually not and could never be.. However, finally we are obliged to travel along many... acquainted, unknown..! In the process we get convinced that we can’t label people as beautiful or ugly! People wouldn’t come under any brand as such!
When  I tuned into this ‘musing mode’ contemplating on all kinds of people out there, my mind whispered tenderly into my ears ‘ Let people walk into your life , not over it’!

A Lesson From The Stone..

Monday, June 4, 2012

Here goes the dream description.. Please go through to see what insight it had in store for me  :)

I spot a cluster of  big rocks situated on a hilly area. The place looks arid. Meanwhile,  a man appearing serene and sagacious walks towards the rocks. He ponders something to himself and after laborious, careful calculation picks up one of the rocks situated a little farther from the bunch of them and sits, assuming meditative posture.
Once he closes his eyes, the scene changes and I realize that I am seeing the image witnessed by his meditating mind-  The same rock  excluded from the group shows up  with that man standing infront. His eyes are open and the rock blocks the entire view. Serenity vanishes.  Exhibiting frustration on face and voice with louder annoyed pitch, he states , “Oh Rock! Just leave me my way. You are just an instrument, a medium not the goal. A mean not an end or destination. I want to see the light, path to the pinnacle of the state I am intending to reach. Please don’t stand in my way."
A mild tranquil voice emerges out of rock and it responds, “Dear Man, you picked me out of careful examination. Out of my knowledge I have come to know, whenever a person invests his time and attention on something. It means he is interested in that! Anything wrong in that?”
He suddenly shots his eyes wide open and starts walking away from the rock cursing in an insignificant tone- “What, what should I explain to a stone hard from inside and outside. What it expects?”
Rock addressing the man in a voice audible to him replies, “Dear Man, I never had any intentions. It is you who came out of intention to meditate. You are right I am just a medium, but remember one who can’t make proper utilization of the mean, instrument reaches nowhere! One who makes out just  stone in the stone is not the man for meditation! He needs real education that can enlighten him to see ‘life’ in every living and non- living “
Voice becomes feeble and man disappears

Dream Report- 'Barrier?'

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

This is a recent, Jan-2012 ‘dream report’. This dream came as a realization offering new possibilities to view ‘life’. I have named it ‘Barrier?’. See it and let me know your take on ‘Barrier..?’

'Barrier?'

I see a wall ahead of me. A huge wall and nothing but that wall. I sense it is blocking my way and start looking for a door, window or atleast a hole somewhere.. I search and search in the wall that seems to be stretching infinitely. I couldn’t find its beginning or ending.. As I go about scouring I sense the desire for freedom, wish to reach out for some dream mounting in me. I feel hopeless after my futile efforts. Disappointed, I turn my back to the wall. I turn and go stunned with what I witness. I am seeing a place with green coated grassy ground and multicoulored sky. I feel pleasure, joy and peace watching those hues. As I walk towards the view leaving the wall, I hear a voice rising somewhere in me saying- ‘Walls are not always bad. Make sure whether they are guarding you from stepping out of your dream or stopping you from entering the dream.”

With that, dream ends..
